Lime or cement?
The right mortar for the wall, not whatever's in the mixer.
Older (pre-1920) Sussex brickwork is usually soft and needs breathable lime mortar; harder modern brick takes cement. We match the mortar to the brick and the original joint profile, never a one-mix-fits-all patch.

Repointing is priced per square metre, typically from around £30/m² for straightforward raking-out and refilling. Scaffolding, brick repairs and wall-tie replacement add to the cost. We survey first and give a free, fixed written quote.

How does cavity wall insulation extraction work?
We drill a controlled pattern of small access holes, then use industrial vacuum extraction to remove failed or damp insulation from the cavity. The wall is cleared, inspected with a borescope, and holes are made good to match the existing masonry.
Do you use lime mortar or cement mortar for repointing?
Both. The correct choice depends on the age and construction of the wall. We assess the existing mortar and substrate, then specify a lime or cement mix that is compatible so the repointing performs correctly and doesn't damage the masonry.
Is your work guaranteed and are you insured?
Yes. All workmanship is guaranteed in writing and we carry £1 million public liability insurance. Certificates are available on request before work begins.

How do I know if my property needs repointing?
Run a key or blade across the mortar joints. If it scratches deeper than about 5mm, or you can see gaps, receding joints, cracked render or damp patches indoors, the pointing is failing. We offer a free survey anywhere in East Sussex.
